Thankfulness

Our family has many blessings. Our customers are counted among these. Thank you for your patronage this year.

May you and yours gather together this Thanksgiving, as ours will thankful, for all your blessings big and small. In this volatile economy it is difficult for many. Holidays are markedly difficult for families who cannot enjoy their traditional celebrations with all the trimmings they have grown accustom too year after year. Perhaps you find yourself in such a situation. If this is the case I pray, you find a way to happiness and cheer by refocusing on the meaning behind the Holiday season.

I'll never forget one Christmas thirty years ago, when my sister and I were still living at home. Hard times had found our family that year. We felt drained emotionally, spiritually and financially. We decided to make all our gifts by hand that year. Nothing new was to be purchased. Sally and I scrounged around the house, surrounding woods, the attic, and our closets. The gifts exchanged that year were not only imaginative but memorable. I cannot claim to remember many other Holidays as vividly. I still have a piece of flannel from a nightgown I long ago discarded. Our mother found the material in her sewing closet and all of us received a new nightgown or PJ's that year. Every year thereafter, we all found a new nightgown wrapped under the Christmas tree. Mom started a new tradition which might not have been shared had she not been forced to be so frugal. May simplicity be the motto this year and thankfulness be on our lips. There is always someone less fortunate.

Why we spend time with product fragrance...

Fragrance can transport the imagination to far away places in the second it takes to open a jar of essential oil. Sally and I spend time creating our fragrance blends. Aromatherapy is as important to us as are the oils we chose to formulate our products. Take a minute to identify, with the aromas that evoke an emotion within yourself. Surroundings can be made pleasant, with the addition of a reed diffuser or just a bundle of your favorite flower or herb. Treat yourself to a wonderful scensory environment.

When I make product, I prepare two things initially. First, I find some relaxing or inspiring music. Lately, my choice has been music by the Celtic Women or Gregorian Chant. Secondly, I begin mixing my essential oils, then let them mingle, while I prepare the other ingredients. My lab becomes a comforting place. I enjoy a similar feeling that comes over me when I achieve deep meditation.

My Golden Retriever, Tess, enjoys these product days as well. She is not allowed in the lab, however she  enjoys her view from the hallway. She is not quite two years old. Tess is a bundle of energy in motion. When she hears the music lightly playing and inhales the essential oils weaving their magic aromas, she settles down on her cushion and not a whisker moves. These are my favorite days. Anything else troubling me evaporates, my breathing keeps pace with the mixer or my stirring....nirvanna in a jar and the notes in the air! Priceless memories.

Eucalyptus - help relieve sadness , Frankincense - can help calm anger, Lemon - can help lift a depressive mood, Patchouli - can help get you in the mood for romance, Rosemary mint - can help relax tension and stress, Ylang Ylang - can help alleviate anxiety

Have a Happy and safe Halloween. It is a magic day enjoy the festivities, warm up some cider and get some fresh air. Love and Light, Judy
